I was born in San Francisco, raised near Seattle, earned a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University and a master's degree from New York University. I currently live in Springville, Utah with my wife and children. I freelance locally and "tele-freelance" with companies across the country; I also teach film classes at BYU.

In addition to filmmaking, I play the trumpet, enjoy reading 19th-century Russian novelists as well as books on general relativity and chaos. I speak fluent French, love to cook, and I have a working knowledge of javascript, html, css, and php (enough to code this website, at any rate — and the javascript comes in handy when animating).

Some of the graphics programs I use most often:

  • After Effects
  • Photoshop
  • Illustrator
  • Final Cut Pro
  • Premiere
  • Blender (3D)
  • DVD Studio Pro
  • Sorensen Squeeze and Apple Compressor
